Kashmiri Shawl Seller Killed after Hit by Bike in Jalandhar
Srinagar, Apr 05 (KB): A 51-year-old Kashmiri man, Ghulam Hassan Lone, was killed immediately after he was hit by a bike in Jalandhar, Punjab, Sodal area on Saturday.
Lone, a Gaziriyal, a resident of Kralpora area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara and son of late Ghulam Ahmad Lone, was a seasonal shawl seller in Punjab. He was on the road, eyewitnesses said, when the accident occurred. The vehicle rider did not abandon the scene.
The police have taken the body into custody, which is yet to be sent back to his hometown in Kashmir as arrangements are being made for the same. A case has been registered, and further investigation is in progress.
The tragedy has fallen heavily on the Kashmiri traders in the area, the majority of whom work away from home to meet their daily bread.— (KB)
