The Civil Society Forum Kashmir (Health Wing) has issued a strong condemnation of the recent shocking incident at SMHS Hospital Srinagar, where a doctor on duty was reportedly assaulted while performing his professional responsibilities.
In a press statement, CSFK (Health) described the incident as “deplorable” and said it not only endangers the lives of healthcare professionals but also disrupts the essential medical services that thousands of patients depend on every day.
“Doctors and healthcare workers dedicate their lives to serving humanity. This act is a grave violation of the sanctity of healthcare institutions and must be met with strict legal action,” the statement read.
The organization emphasized the urgent need for the government to strengthen protective mechanisms within hospitals to prevent such incidents from recurring. “We call upon the authorities to ensure the safety, dignity, and morale of healthcare workers, who form the backbone of our public health system.”
CSFK (Health) expressed full solidarity with the medical fraternity, reaffirming their commitment to stand beside doctors and healthcare staff facing threats or violence in the line of duty.
The forum has urged law enforcement agencies to take swift and exemplary action against those involved in the attack and appealed to society to respect and safeguard the dignity of healthcare institutions.
